I remember drawing my first self- portrait in 1983. Holding the heavy pen in my hand, trying to guide it along the frighteningly white paper, coordinating my thoughts and expectations with the yet ambivalent movements of my dexterity. There is something to this, I felt. Something exiting and unpredictable. It was the undiluted curiosity of a beginner, embarking upon a journey that will take a lifetime to master…
Fast-forward to present day and creating has long become second-nature. Naturally, the pace is lightyears faster and the tools I use have evolved well beyond that analogue ballpoint pen… But the excitement and the curiosity remain. I’m still that same apprentice striving for new levels of mastery. Because no two projects are ever the same. Every encounter is unique and filled with possibilities, just like that un-scribbled, shiny page. A path to be travelled together.
